Scene-Trace privacy policy

Effective date: August 12, 2026

Overview

Scene-Trace is a local-first scene documentation application. It does not require an account and does not operate a cloud service that receives or stores your Scene-Trace captures.

Information handled by the app

When you create a capture, Scene-Trace may store the following information in the app's local storage on your device:

Local processing and sharing

Scene-Trace processes captures on your device. It does not upload capture data to a Scene-Trace server. Your data leaves the app only when you choose to save or share an exported file through Apple's Files or share interface. You control the destination and recipients of that export.

Permissions

Camera permission is used to capture scene observations. Location permission is used to attach available location observations to a capture. Motion permission is used to record device-motion observations associated with a capture. You can change permission choices in iOS Settings. Declining a permission may limit the related capture information.

Retention and deletion

Capture observations and derived files remain in Scene-Trace until you delete the capture. Use Delete Capture from Capture options to remove app-local observations and app-local derived exports for that capture.

Files already saved outside Scene-Trace, including copies in Files or shared with another app, are not deleted by Scene-Trace and remain under your control. Deleting Scene-Trace from your device removes the app's local data, subject to any device backup or file copies you separately created.
